Program Officer, Indonesia
Farah Sofa, known as Ovi, is a program officer for the Ford Foundation office in Jakarta. For more than two decades, she has worked extensively on natural resources and climate change issues, including working for Indonesian environmental organizations such as WALHI (Friends of the Earth Indonesia), human rights organizations such as the Legal Aid Foundation and Partnership for Governance Reform, and as governance adviser in the United Kingdom Department For International Development (DFID) until 2020.
From 2012-2020, Ovi was the lead adviser for DFID’s portfolio in Indonesia, including its biggest program on capacity building for civil society organizations that involved more than 100 civil society partners working on environmental issues.
Ovi is a supporter of gender inclusion in climate change and natural resource issues. Her work focuses on building common ground between issues of climate change, natural resources and the environment with key issues such as gender, religion and disability.
She has a bachelor’s degree in agriculture economics from the Bogor Agricultural University in West Java and a master’s degree in environment and development from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom.
